The Resilient & Accelerated Scale-up of DMPA-SC/Self injection in Nigeria (RASuDiN)
- 2019
- Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF), Children Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF)
CCSI has the responsibility of creating demand for the scale-up of DMPA-SC/Self Injection in the project states; through an integrated strategy that employs a combination of mass media and community mobilization. On community mobilization, trained Community Volunteers (CVs) create awareness about DMPA-SC/SI within a broader mix of other family planning methods and work alongside Community Oriented Resource Persons (CORPs) who provide community-based family planning services.
The CVs also make referrals for community members to access Family Planning/Childbirth spacing services at health facilities across the state. The project is currently working with 676 Community Volunteers targeting a population of 15,569,980 Women of Reproductive Age in 217 LGAs (across the 10 project states) and making referrals to 6,033 healthcare facilities.
The RASuDiN project leverages mass media/social media to achieve state-wide saturation of messages on DMPA-SC/SI and other modern Family Planning/Childbirth spacing methods. Its “Who I go ask, na person wey sabi” radio programs educate audiences and addresses their concerns through a phone-in segment anchored by popular On-Air Personalities and seasoned family planning service providers. RASuDiN also uses social media platforms such as Twitter and Facebook to engage with young people about DMPA-SC/Self Injection within a broader mix of other family planning methods.
