FCC LGA M&E Assitant

The Faith and Cultural Champions (FCC) Project, implemented by the Center for Communication and Social Impact (CCSI), seeks to improve maternal health outcomes and empower adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) by shifting gender norms and mobilizing faith and cultural leaders as champions of positive change. Effective Monitoring Evaluation and Learning (MEL) is central to tracking progress, documenting outcomes, and generating evidence for decision-making. The LGA MEL Assistant will support the collection, verification, and reporting of data and learnings at the LGA level, working closely with sub-grantees (IFCC), community structures, and faith/cultural champions to ensure accurate and timely information flow. The LGA MEL Assistant will be responsible for supporting data collection, collation, entry, verification and learning at the LGA level and ensuring high-quality reporting of FCC project activities. The role will strengthen data collection and data flow at community and LGA levels and contribute to state-level evidence generation for adaptive programming.

Duties and Responsibilities

The LGA MEL Assistant will:

Data Collection & Management

  • Support routine collection of data from community activities, health facilities, and IFCC using standardized project tools.
  • Accurately enter data into approved databases.
  • Submit all LGA-level MEL documents to FCC state office for proper archiving.

Data Quality Assurance

  • Conduct routine verification of data submitted from IFFCs.
  • Work with the Senior RMEL Officer to organize and conduct back checks, data validation and Data Quality Assessments (DQAs).
  • Ensure completeness and accuracy of IFCCs implementation activities data.

Reporting

  • Compile and submit timely monthly and quarterly LGA reports to the Senior RMEL Officer.
  • Support the analysis and presentation of LGA data for review meetings.
  • Supervise IFCCs implementation activities and ensure proper documentation.
  • Track IFCCs intervention activities and ensure it corresponds with workplan.
  • Ensure regular availability of IFCCs M&E reporting tools.
  • Provide basic mentoring and on-the-job support to IFCCs, field personnel, on proper use of data tools.

Learning & Documentation

  • Document lessons learned, success stories, and challenges from FCC implementation at the LGA level.
  • Assist in harvesting and synthesizing observations and insights from implementation of activities.
  • Harvest learnings from monitoring how FCCs deploy knowledge gained from capacity building.
  • Support responsive feedback mechanisms (RFM), review meetings, reflection sessions, and knowledge-sharing forums.

Research

  • Support mid-line and end-line assessment to assess the effectiveness of strategies deployed by the IFCCs.
  • Provide logistical support during research activities (mobilizing respondents, preparing venues, distributing tools).
  • Liaise with community members, partners, or stakeholders during data collection.
  • Ensure enumerators or field assistants follow standard procedures including adherence to research protocol.
  • Document and share lessons learned and best practices with the CCSI research team.

Other Duties

    • Support monitoring visits to activities and communities.
    • Perform any other tasks assigned by the FCC project team.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Higher National Diploma  or Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer science or related field.
  • At least 3 years’ experience in MEL or data management, preferably in health or development projects.
  • Proficiency in Excel, SPSSknowledge of mobile data collection platforms (ODK, KoboCollect) is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with community-level data collection systems in Nigeria.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work effectively with community leaders, faith actors, and local government officials.
  • Fluency in English and Hausa is required.

Deliverables

  • Accurate, complete, and timely routine implementation data.
  • Accurate, complete, and timely monthly LGA-level report.
  • Documented success stories and field supervision reports.
  • Contributions to state-level quarterly and annual reports.

Level of Effort

  • The role involves frequent visits to communities, health facilities and FCC intervention activities within the assigned LGA.
